how long does it take to get a student visa to australia if I'm from Canada?
I want to apply to some programs that begin in July of this year. However, I'm wondering if I would be able to get a visa in time if I only apply now. How long does it generally take to get a student visa to Australia if you're from Canada Thanks for the website link, btu it doesn't say how long it will take. Anyone else knows?

14 days from the day your application is received by the Australian Embassy or Consulate in Canada Remember that you need to obtain the offer from the education institution too So that will take sometime as well Hope that help

it all depends on the financial situation to accomplish the studies? if you already have enrolled in the University applied for your visa, and if you qualify financially, you should be able to take the courses on time, it basically lies on the finances and your records.
2 :
Due to a sudden increase in applications received, processing times for student visas lodged with the New Delhi office are currently at 12-14 weeks. Applications will not receive pre-visa assessment until 6-8 weeks after lodgement. After pre-visa assessment you will be contacted by a case officer who will provide you with a status on your application and the next steps. Courses should not commence until 12-14 weeks after you lodge the application. Source(s): http://www.india.embassy.gov.au/ndli/Visas_and_Migration.html Edit: Based on the next contributor. I would think that the Australian Embassy in India is better able to advice on their processing time than a general information of a commercial visa agent acting wordlwide.
3 :
The processing time for Student Visa will vary from country to country and according to your personal circumstances. It generally takes 1 to 6 weeks.

Is it possible to convert a tourist visa to a student visa in Australia?

Is it possible to convert a tourist visa to a student visa in Australia?
Hi, I'm a US citizen staying in India currently. I've been accepted to UWA and am awaiting the Confirmation of Enrollment. By the time I receive it and then apply for the student visa, it will be extremely close to my start date. So in order to arrive a bit earlier, I was wondering if I could convert my ETA/tourist visa to a student visa while in Australia... Anyone? Anyone?

You can phone the embassy on this situation. Because tourist visa is different from student visa. I think you need to phone them for your protection. Good luck.

ya i think you could, ya my cousin said you could

Because you're an American citizen and therefore on student assessment level 1, you are able to apply for your student visa while you're in Australia and there is no reason that I know of why you can't do so while you're on an ETA. All you need is the Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment - you don't need a letter or anything else. Take extreme care with your timing. Even though ETAs are multiple entry, you can only stay for 3 months at a time and DIAC don't like people only staying away for a few days or even weeks in between 3 month visits - if you try to return too soon, you may not be allowed to do so. The potential problem arises because you must say if you are onshore or offshore when you apply for your student visa. If you say 'onshore', the student visa will be granted onshore and will cancel your ETA - if you're offshore at the time, you won't get back in. If you say 'offshore' and you're onshore at the time it's granted, your ETA is cancelled and you're here without a visa and become an overstayer. Makes my head hurt!

Of course does the New Zealand Immigration want to see that you can meet the requirements for a visitor visa; although it is much easier for you to proof your plans to leave the country after the visit, holding a two year Australian student visa. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/visit/visitors/default.htm .. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/templates/Custom/OfficesAndFeesPopup.aspx?NRMODE=Published&NRNODEGUID=%7bA6920407-2B56-4000-820F-78918E083A10%7d&NRORIGINALURL=%2fmigrant%2fstream%2fwork%2fskilledmigrant%2fLinkAdministration%2fToolboxLinks%2fofficeandfeescalculator%2ehtm&NRCACHEHINT=Guest ..
