What's the best Internet Service Provider for a student in Australia?
What's the best Internet Service Provider for a student in Australia?
Hi everyone, I'm a university student who just arrived in Australia and I'm searching for a cheap and high download limit internet service provider. I've got a laptop and preferably I want a mobile broadband connection, not router or ADSL based, because my accomodation is temporary and I bring it to school often. Right now I'm considering Unwired's portable modem and 3's broadband card. Any other mobile options to consider? What plan should I choose if I pick any of the first two options. I'll probably need 1-2 GB limit a month, with no excess fees, and a decent connection speed. THANKS! :)

G'day, What about Bigpond's "Next G" wireless? I got a client who's using it and she is very happy, although it might be abit more expensive compared to the other. I heard Optus also has some wireless plans as well. I suggest you use the service of these websites: 1. www.allphones.com.au: It is the website of Allphones stores. They deal with wide range of ISP around Austrlaia, so you can compare deals. 2. www.whirlpool.net.au: Listed all ISP in Australia with their broadband plans and cost lists. Hope this helps. Sorry cannot give you a definite answer but hope you can make your own list of comparison and become the expert when helping your fellow international students later :) I did that when I was a student as well.

How do I get private sponsorship for a international student to study in Australia?
How do I get private sponsorship for a international student to study in Australia?
I am in contact with someone who has encountered many misfortunes and needs to be given a chance in life. How do I find private sponsorship to fund him to study in Australia for a bachelors degree in education? He is from Western Samoa, the South Pacific nation recently destroyed by natures worst disaster seen in the Pacific. Any info will be very much appreciated.

Hes more likely to get sponsorship to study at the Uni of South Pacific than anything in Australia - universities in Australia do not give scholarships for any Bachelor degrees.

There is no such thing as average. Example, I do not like meat and if you do then your cost of living is going to be higher then mine. Do you go out a lot?Have your own transport? do you plan to eat in or live on take aways. Where are you planning to live, as some suburbs have really high rents and others don't. To get a better answer you will have to give a bit more information.

A lot of money. I'm not sure how much, but if you've come here to study and you're from overseas - a LOT. I have many international students as friends and they have to pay tens of thousands every year just to live with a substitute family. Also, if you're not a citizen you basically have to pay everything full price. Public transport will be about twice the price of what Aussie citizens have to pay. Universities also charge you quite high. And the first comment is right - depending on what you do, where you live, that will affect your cost of living. If you're going to stay in the city, that will be expensive because most people living in the CBD are international students as well so everything is higher priced. I hope I didn't scare you off. Melbourne is a lovely city, I'm glad you're planning to come here to study.

most rental ( shared house ) cost around 90 to 180 dollars/per week depend on the area and condition . you will needs to spend around 100 on a ave food cost per weeks . travel would cost you 30 to 40 depend where you live . Most welfare is under 300 dollar a week so can say 300 dollar should do you a min. per week if you needs income to support yourself i do advise you to get a paid job for paying your bills if money is a urgency matter . But nothing to stop you to try thing after work hours if you really determine . At least you dont have to depend the online income to pay your bills Working online is possible but does take a bit of a training specially know how to drive the target traffic to your online business . It needs a lot of research or someone willing to show you how to start . I have researched a few possible work from home scheme that i can do while i have a few hours in my hands Some were lack of support which meant you pretty much on your own and Some i found you needs to take forever before you can make any dollars . I have discovered a home business have a fast rapid compensation plan that can generate faster income , and not months and months that built by a success team, a group of parents who work from home and the business can operate in 13 different country . you get a real time support and training online . you can seek more info from this page http://work-from-home.ws and get connect to a group of parents that is work from home via skype for their finding .

ASSESSMENT LEVEL FOR STUDENT VISA FOR AUSTRALIA?
I'm a registered nurse here in the Philippines and i'd like to apply for a student visa for Australia. I'm a bit confused on the my assessment level. Please help! I don't know if i'm at the school level or higher education level or VET.

Your Assessment Level will depend on what course you want to do and the educational institution which you will be attending. Higher education (HE) (Subclass 573) is defined as a: Bachelor degree; associate degree; graduate certificate; graduate diploma; HE diploma; HE advanced diploma; masters by coursework. Vocational education and training (VET) (Subclass 572) is defined as: Certificate I, II, III, and IV; VET diploma; VET advanced diploma. It definitely won't be a Primary/Secondary course - they're for school aged children.
