Which countries would be best for me to be an exchange student, Australia, Scotland, Ireland, or England?
I have to choose between Scotland, Ireland, England, and Australia to spend my Junior year of high school. I have never been out of America and don't know much about these countries. I have to decide soon. I am Scottish and Irish. More Scottish and i have always wanted to go to all of these places but i need help to decide. Any opinions? Give me YOUR opinions. I'm looking for the country that you felt more welcome, had more fun, and the people were more Friendly. I am pretty sure all of the places are beautiful. Please help!

How are you Scottish or Irish if you've never left America? I would go with England or Australia.

I would say, England, because it was the old america if you think about it! ****But, if you are scottish, then I would say go to either Ireland or Scotland, because then you can reconnect to your heritage!

if youre a typical american, then you should probably go to australia. i personally prefer ireland because they are the least authoritarian. britain has a lot of anti immigration sentiments, as does australia, that is why it turns me off. australia also turns me off because of how right wing it is in general, but if you are a typical american, you will be right wing, and it wont matter anyway. i have heard from british people that scottish people are friendly, but that is just their view point. whether or not an american would consider them friendly is a whole other story. i dont think any of those countries are friendly, when compared with americans. irish people seem easy to get along with. i think you will be worshipped when going to britain and ireland, just because they watch a lot of hollywood films. aussies do too, but they seem to have a lot of hate in them. you have to remember, australia is a convict colony. i has a lot of similar beginings to america.

Australians are quite friendly- albeit in a different way than Americans. Plus the weather is generally warmer and there are awesome beaches. It would be my choice. But if you want to do any traveling, then go to England. You can get to most of Europe pretty cheaply from London.

It really depends of where you're from, what you like, and your overall idea of a good time. These are all my opinions, not solid fact. Australia is sunny, lively, and HOT. You would go here if you were from Florida or California. Pros: Beautiful beaches, friendly people, very similar to American lifestyle, always something to do, very active. Cons: It can get a bit too hot sometimes, and you can get tired of the beach scene eventually. England is full of history and culture, and many of its cities are beautiful. Most people are helpful and keep to themselves. Pros: Incredible cities, nice people, great education opportunities. Cons: For the most part, England's weather is rather solemn: cloudy, foggy, and rainy are common. Scotland is similar to England, though the countryside is much prettier. Ireland is for you if you can't live without the rolling hills and grassy plains feel. My personal favorite. Pros: Very friendly and accepting people, amazing countryside, culture explosions wherever you go. Cons: Like England and Scotland, Ireland's coasts aren't the best for play. Not what I would call "nice" weather, but not as hostile as England's.
