Scholarship requirements to study in Australia as an international student?
Scholarship requirements to study in Australia as an international student?
I'm currently in high school in the U.S., but I'm no citizen. Seeing how the cost of unis in Australia are thrice cheaper than unis here, I'm considering it as one of the possibilities. Say I'm accepted to a school and want to apply for financial aid, scholarship, whatever you call it. What are the usual attributes, test score (and what test really matters, SAT, TOEFL?..), grade ...etc etc.. requirements for those entering as an undergraduate to possibly get financial aid?

Australian university international fees are around 20K per year (plus accommodation costs etc) which I believe is on par with the US fees. The "cheapness" is only available for Australian citizens. The fees are able to be postphoned through HECS and paid back once you are earning over 30K per year. Australian citizens are also eligible for AUSTUDY which is money for the first undergraduate degree. As such, Australia does not have a scholarship program, as all Australians are deemed either eligible for AUSTUDY or have parents deemed rich enough to support them themselves. The only undergrad scholarships across the country is for study at Duntroon/military university and they accept only Australians. PhD scholarships are the only scholarships our universities have.
