What would be the avg. earning for a foreign student working in part time in Australia?
Hello, here is the scenario I am a computer graduate in a south Asian country, and I am trying to get admission in masters in Australia, I just want to know if I work in part time there along with my masters studies, than what can be the basic amount I would be earning? I have also done CCNA, would that help me getting a better job in Australia?

The employment situation in IT in Australia is currently not at all good. You will not have an easy time finding a job that uses your IT skills, even with CCNA ( which many networking professionals have anyway and still can't find jobs). Because employment in IT is currently very tight ( and has been for quite a few years in many IT fields), you need to consider that you might have to work in menial jobs such as taxi driving, cleaning etc. In either case, do not rely on part time employment income to cover your living and study costs. You will simply not be able to earn enough for that. At best, if you are working around 20 hours per week ( I think this is the maximum that you will be permitted to work during semester), then you will be earning roughly around $18,000 - $20,000 per year. You main obstacle in "getting a better job" will be that you are not born in Australia and are an overseas student. It will be tough. Very tough. Hope this helps.

The min amount you will be paid is around $14 an hour - after taxes etc it will be around $11 per hour - so 20 hours will give you around $220 a week or $440 a fortnight after taxes. The average shared accommodation rent in Sydney is around $180 per week not including gas, electricity, phone etc. So you will need to have an alternative source of income to survive while you are studying here.
