How likely is it that at 18 ill get a student visa for university in australia?
I'm planning on moving to Australia pretty soon, to live with family friends until i find my feet and get settled there. I want to move when im 18 and hopefully go to university there. I was told about a student visa available for there. Does anyone know what it entitles me too and how likely it would be for me to be granted one

you cant move to australia unless you are skilled and experienced in an occupation listed as needing workers and at 18 you wont have the qualifications you could live there temporarily with a student visa but you will pay international student fees and have to prove you have enough money to support yourself,you will also need your own health insurance as you will not get it from australia

If you don't have access to a considerable amount of money to meet the requirements for a student visa, the only way you'll be able to come to Australia will be on a 12 months working holiday. Even for a working holiday visa, you will be expected to have as much as AUD$5000 plus money for a return ticket, though you may get away with less if you have free accommodation lined up with your friends. You'll be able to work at any kind of job for up to 6 months with any employer, but the visa is intended to be for a holiday with work as a secondary consideration. Unless you then apply for a student visa, you will have to leave the country at the end of your 12 months. http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/working-holiday/ For a student visa, you must first of all be accepted by the university as a full time student and will be required to have acceptable high school results appropriate to your course of choice - only academic results are considered and extra-curricular isn't taken into account at all. You must have access to enough money to cover living expenses of AUD$20,000 per year and tuition costs for the duration of your course plus a return airfare. For a 3 year university course, that would come to at least AUD$120,000 for one of the least expensive courses at a decent university. You would be allowed to work for up to 20 hours per week while your course is in session and unlimited hours during official vacation breaks.
