Do I need to take TOEFL test to apply to Canadian university even though I am university student in Australia?
I am from Iran and migrated to Australia. English is not my language even though I am studying in the university there. I didn't take any TOEL tests. Now I want to apply for university in Canada. Do I need to have TOEF test prior to my acceptance in university there?

I think that you will have to yes - as English is not your first language - the test has recently changed too, so get the latest package if you want to revise for it.

Better address this question to your prospective university.

It depends on the university. Will you be trying to transfer or are you trying to pursue another degree after graduating in Australia? Some universities will not require TOEFL scores from applicants who have a Bachelors degree from an English speaking country - in your case Australia, however other universities may require TOEFL scores regardless of your previous education and background. Contact the Canadian university's admissions office or review their admissions website. For further advice, please visit http://www.macquil.com

If you graduated from university in Australia and are now applying to another program - submitting your Australian grades as part of your application - then you do not need to take the TOEFL. However, if you simply took a few courses in Australia but did not complete the course of stufy (i.e. if you will be submitting grades from another, non-English institution as part of your application package), then you will need to take the TOEFL. Check the admissions website of the particular university that you are applying to, as regulations vary.

The Canadian university you are applying to will be able to clarify this for you, as it their requirement that you need to fulfil. Generally, if one has completed a full academic year in a tertiary institution where the language of instruction is English, the requirement for TOEFL, IELTS or any other English language test is removed. Your current Australian university will be able to provide you with a letter to this effect, but the final decision still lies with the University you are applying to.
