If I apply for a vistor visa to Australia how hard will it be to get a student visa once I get there?
I am an american citizen studying abroad. I have not been accepted to the university at which I intend to study yet, but have been assured I will. I have already bought my plan ticket so my the time I am accepted I will not have time to apply recieve my visa and make my flight to australia.

The USA is an assessment level 1 country so you will be able to apply for your student visa when you're in Australia on a tourist visa or ETA. Once you're accepted by the university though, you will be able to apply for your student visa online from wherever you are and it will only take a few days to a couple of weeks (at most) to be granted, so the timing simply won't be a problem.
