How safe is Sydney Australia for an international student?
I'll be starting on July 2010 at ACU, the NSW Campus. I'll be living a couple of blocks from the university renting a room from a good friend of mine whose been studying,living & working in Sydney for 2 years now.

It is as safe as you want it to be! Stay away from trouble spots, don't wander alone at night, etc. Simply put: Use your common sense.

You'll be fine if you use common sense. Just avoid walking on backstreets too late at night, but Sydney is not more dangerous than any other big cities in the world.
