These programs seem really good: Youth for Understanding, Intrax or Amerispan

The exchange program that I hear most about is sponsored by the Rotary club. These exchanges seem very safe and well prepared, and the only cost is plane tickets. I know several people who have had incredible experiences through Rotary. They organize summer exchanges where you live with someone in another country for a few weeks and then they visit you for a few weeks, as well as year-long programs where students stay with host families and go to high school for a year in another country. I really recommend that you look into this; it would be an unforgettable experience! My sister was sponsored by Rotary to America for a year, and my brother has taken in several people in australia through Rotary. But, what they do now is you only live for 3 months with a family, then you move on to another family. It is more than the cost of the ticket, your family has to agree to give you a weekly allowance to pay your expenses, things like bus fares, shampoo etc. The Rotary Exchange is very good, very safe so I would recommend it.
