my sister used these guys to go from australia to denmark and they seemed pretty good. she got home in one piece and her host family were awesome. probably they do them in the opposite direction too. come to australia. it kicks ass. if you travel around europe when you are older it is easy to make london your base so you can do the UK then.

I am making two assumptions with my answer: (1) you are a high school student and (2) you live in the USA. Forgive me, but I have a bit of bad news. Many organizations have suspended their programs to the UK due to a difficulty in getting student visas. However, these programs might possibly resume for the 2011-2012 school year. If I may, I would like to cast a vote for Youth For Understanding (YFU). I am a 5-time host mom and volunteer with YFU (in the USA). When I have asked exchange students why they chose YFU, I get the following answers: (1) YFU gave them more bang for their buck and/or (2) someone they knew and trusted recommended YFU. 95% of the fees collected by YFU go for direct program costs (airline tickets, support in hosting country, etc.). YFU has been around for 59 years and has learned how to make exchanges successful. If you would consider one of YFU's other English-speaking programs (this year they have them to South Africa, Ghana, India, and Australia) or one of the other approximately 30 countries that don't require previous language study, you can email me or check out the website : yfuusa.org. I sincerely wish you luck! Please do make sure that any program that you choose is listed with the Council for Standards for International Educational Travel (csiet.org).
